What are trader cards?
Trader
cards are small 3.5x5 (approx) images with the astronomical object and
some descriptive information printed underneath. They are printed on lustre-finish
Fuji Crystal Archive photographic paper without borders.
Can
I get my photos on glossy paper?
Yes,
please indicate your preference in the instruction box at checkout.
We do not usually print on glossy paper because it shows fingerprints
and scratch marks easily.
Do
you sell ink-jet prints?
No,
not for astronomical images at this time. The photographic paper we
use is a conventional silver halide material. This type of paper has
been used by professional labs for more than 40 years, and has a good
track record of stability. Ink-jet prints are more expensive to produce
and despite manufacturers claims of longevity, are still an unknown
entity.
If
I order prints today when will I get them?
Allow 5-7
days to receive your order. We normally complete orders within 1 to
3 days, and our standard shipping is another another 2 to 3 days. You
may select faster express mail (1-2 days) shipping at checkout if you
desire.
What
are your shipping options?
There is a
standard $7.50 charge for domestic Priority mail (our default method).
Prints larger than 24 inches on a side require an additional $4.00
for oversize shipping and packaging
Why
do your print sizes vary so much?
The files
we use are the highest resolution files available and they are all different.
For uniformity, we sell prints in four formats; 1:1 square, 8x10 format,
2:3 35mm and 1:2 panoramic. If a file does not completely fit our formats,
black space is added to make up the difference. We do not crop any images.
Some files are too small to make large prints so we limit the available
sizes.
Will
my photos look like they do on my computer?
Not exactly.
Images on your computer screen are seen by transmitted light from glowing
phosphors or LED's. Photographic prints are viewed by reflected light.
We use calibrated equipment to be sure our prints match the files supplied
to us. So since the colors are coming from different sources they probably
will appear different.
Can
I return prints I don't like?
All orders
are custom printed so they cannot be offered for resale. If there is
a problem with any order, call or write us within 10 days after
you have received it. We may be able to replace a damaged print or issue
you a credit voucher. We do not offer refunds to your credit card. Shipping
charges are not refundable.
Why
can't I save my unfinished order?
The shopping
cart system we use does not use "cookies" to save information
on your computer so we do not know who you are or what you ordered until
you checkout. If you need to refer to other pages of our website while
you are placing an order, there is a workaround you can use. Please
see our "Ordering" menu option.
I
need some custom-sized prints. Do you honor special requests?
Yes, we offer
special sizes, laminations, mounting and framing if needed. Please call
or write with your inquiries.
Can
I pay with a check or money order instead of using a credit card?
Yes, send the payment along with
the copy of the order to our address below. Your prints will be shipped
as soon as your check clears our bank.
Do
you accept purchase orders?
We accept
purchase orders from schools, municipalities and others pending approval.
